I purchased a brand new 2009 Toyota Camry in July 2009 along with the extended 5 yr/100,000 mile warranty. At 80,000 miles my Camry started burning all the oil before the 5000 mile oil changes.
I am diligent about keeping up oil changes and maintenance and did all of them with Greens Toyota in Lexington, KY where I bought the vehicle. They told me it was "normal" for the car to burn 1.1 quarts per each 600 miles and that it is in their manual, so they don't have to do anything about it. I wasn't aware of this when I bought the car that burning oil was normal--I told the Toyota manager that a Mack truck doesn't burn that much, and he agreed. Now I have to keep putting oil in it between oil changes or it will burn up the motor.
Toyota should tell people that their cars burn oil--which of course if they did, no one would buy them.
The warranty isn't worth the paper it is written on.I also contacted the main corporation customer service, and was told the same thing.
